As December unfolds and 2025 draws to a close, we find ourselves at a powerful threshold—a natural pause between what was and what will be. This is sacred space, a time when the veil between endings and beginnings grows thin, inviting us to honor both our journey and our evolution.
The year-end isn't just a calendar marker. It's an energetic completion point, a cosmic invitation to review, release, and renew. Yet so often, we rush through December in a frenzy of obligations, missing the profound opportunity this season offers for genuine transformation.
Today, we're reclaiming that opportunity.

Why Year-End Energy Work Matters
Think of your energy body like a home you've lived in all year. You've accumulated experiences, emotions, relationships, and beliefs—some that nourish you, others that have outlived their purpose. Just as you wouldn't move into a new home without cleaning the old one, you don't want to carry unnecessary energetic baggage into 2026.
Year-end reflection and release work allows you to:
- Complete unfinished emotional cycles** from the past twelve months
- Identify patterns- that no longer serve your growth
- Create energetic space- for new opportunities and experiences
- Honor your growth- without judgment or shame
- Set intentional energy- for the year ahead
This isn't about perfection. It's about honest acknowledgment and conscious choice.
Preparing Your Sacred Space
Before diving into the ritual itself, create an environment that supports deep reflection and release.
Physical Space:
- Choose a quiet area where you won't be interrupted for at least 60-90 minutes
- Light a candle to symbolize illumination and transformation
- Burn sage, palo santo, or incense to clear stagnant energy
- Have your journal and a pen ready
- Optional: crystals like black tourmaline (protection/grounding), citrine (release/renewal), or clear quartz (clarity)
Energetic Preparation:
- Turn off your phone and eliminate distractions
- Take several deep breaths to center yourself
- Set a clear intention: "I am ready to see clearly, release lovingly, and step forward consciously"
- Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly, and ground into your body
The Release & Reflect Ritual
Part One: The Year in Review (30 minutes)
Begin with gratitude. Gratitude opens the heart and creates a foundation of abundance from which to view your year.
Gratitude Inventory:
In your journal, complete these prompts:
- Three moments this year when I felt most alive
- Three relationships that brought me joy or growth
- Three challenges that ultimately strengthened me
- Three ways I showed up for myself when it mattered
- Three unexpected gifts 2025 brought me
Take your time. Let memories surface naturally. Notice the emotions that arise without trying to change them.
Monthly Review:
Now, move through each month of 2025. For each month, note:
- One word that captures the energy or theme
- One significant event or realization
- One emotion that was predominant
This isn't about perfection or completeness. Trust what comes up first—your intuition knows what needs to be seen.
Part Two: Identifying What to Release (20 minutes)
Not everything from 2025 deserves a place in your 2026. This is where we get honest about what's ready to be released.
Categories for Release:
Reflect on each category and write down specific examples that come to mind:
Limiting Beliefs:
What stories did you tell yourself this year that held you back? Write them down.
- "I'm not _____ enough"
- "I can't because _____"
- "People like me don't _____"
Toxic Patterns:
What behaviors or responses kept you stuck in cycles you didn't enjoy?
- Overcommitting and burning out
- People-pleasing at your own expense
- Avoiding difficult conversations
- Numbing instead of feeling
Relationships:
Are there connections that drain more than they nourish? This doesn't mean ending relationships—it might mean releasing the obligation to maintain connections that no longer align with who you're becoming.
Incomplete Emotions:
What feelings from 2025 are you still carrying? Grief, anger, disappointment, resentment? Name them. They're ready to be acknowledged and released.
Physical Clutter:
What physical items, commitments, or obligations are weighing you down energetically?
Part Three: The Release Ceremony (15 minutes)
Now comes the transformative part—the actual energetic release.
Written Release:
On a separate piece of paper (not your journal), write down everything you're ready to release. Be specific. Use phrases like:
- "I release the belief that _____"
- "I let go of my attachment to _____"
- "I forgive myself for _____"
- "I free myself from _____"
Don't censor yourself. This is between you and the universe.
Fire Release (Preferred Method):
If you can safely burn the paper, this is the most powerful release method:
1. Read your list aloud, either quietly or with full voice
2. As you read each item, feel it in your body—where does it live? What does it feel like?
3. Take a deep breath and on the exhale, imagine that energy leaving your body
4. When you've read the entire list, hold the paper to the candle flame and place it in a fire-safe bowl
5. As it burns, say: "I release this with love and gratitude for the lessons. I am free. I am open. I am ready."
6. Watch it completely transform into ash
Water Release (Alternative Method):
If you cannot burn the paper safely:
1. Read your list aloud as described above
2. Tear the paper into small pieces
3. Place the pieces in a bowl of water with salt
4. Say your release statement
5. Later, pour the water into the earth or down the drain, visualizing it returning to Source
Part Four: Energetic Clearing (10 minutes)
After releasing, it's essential to clear your energy field and fill the space with positive intention.
Body Clearing:
Stand up and shake your entire body vigorously for 30-60 seconds. This helps release residual energy from your physical and energetic bodies. Don't worry about looking silly—shake it out!
Breath Clearing:
Practice this simple but powerful breathing technique:
1. Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4
2. Hold for a count of 4
3. Exhale forcefully through your mouth for a count of 6
4. Repeat 5-7 times
Visualize any remaining heavy or stagnant energy leaving your body with each exhale.
Chakra Sweep:
Using your hands (or imagination), sweep your energy field from head to toe, about 6 inches from your body. Start at the crown of your head and move downward in smooth, intentional movements. Shake your hands out after each pass, releasing any stuck energy into the earth.
Part Five: Calling In Your New Energy (15 minutes)
Nature abhors a vacuum. Now that you've released what no longer serves, it's time to consciously invite in the energy you want to embody in 2026.
Intention Setting:
In your journal, complete these statements:
- In 2026, I am calling in the energy of _____
- I want to feel more _____ in my daily life
- I am opening myself to _____
- I am becoming someone who _____
- I trust that 2026 will bring me _____
Three Word Focus:
From your intentions above, identify **three words** that capture the essence of the energy you want to carry into 2025. These become your touchstones.
Examples: Presence, Joy, Courage / Peace, Growth, Connection / Freedom, Abundance, Love
Write these three words on a fresh piece of paper. Place it somewhere you'll see daily—your bathroom mirror, your workspace, your car dashboard.
Embodiment Practice:
Close your eyes and visualize yourself six months into 2026, fully embodying these three energies. What does your life look like? How do you feel in your body? What has changed? Who are you becoming?
Spend 3-5 minutes in this visualization, making it as vivid and sensory as possible. This anchors the energetic intention into your body and subconscious mind.
Integration: Making It Last
The ritual itself is powerful, but integration is what makes the transformation stick.
Daily Practice (5 minutes):
Each morning in December, read your three words aloud and take three deep breaths, feeling each word in your body.
Weekly Check-In:
Every Sunday, spend 10 minutes journaling on this question: "What did I release this week, and what did I invite in?"
Physical Clearing:
Between now and January 1st, release physical items from your space that represent the energy you're letting go of. Donate clothes, clear out clutter, organize your workspace. Physical clearing reinforces energetic clearing.
Boundary Setting:
As holiday obligations arise, pause before saying yes. Ask yourself: "Does this align with the energy I'm calling in, or the patterns I'm releasing?"
Common Challenges and How to Navigate Them
"I don't feel anything during the ritual."
That's okay. The ritual works on energetic levels beyond conscious feeling. Trust the process even if you don't experience dramatic shifts in the moment.
"I feel emotional or raw afterward."
This is normal and healthy. You've just moved significant energy. Be extra gentle with yourself. Rest, hydrate, and allow the emotions to move through without judgment.
**"I keep thinking about what I released."**
The mind doesn't always catch up immediately. Each time the thought returns, gently say, "I've already released this. It no longer serves me." Redirect your attention to your three words.
**"I'm afraid of what I might have to let go of."**
Release isn't always about endings. Sometimes it's about releasing our grip on how things "should" be, allowing them to evolve naturally. You're not losing anything real—you're freeing yourself.
The Sacred Pause
As you move through the remainder of December, remember that you're in the sacred pause—the space between exhale and inhale, between ending and beginning. This is holy ground.
Don't rush to fill the space you've created with new goals, plans, and resolutions. Let yourself rest in the clearing. Trust that what needs to come will arrive in perfect timing.
You've done the work of looking back honestly and releasing courageously. You've set your energetic intentions for what's ahead. Now, breathe. Be. Become.
The new year will come whether you're ready or not. But by choosing to release and reflect with intention, you're ensuring that when 2026 arrives, you'll meet it with clear eyes, an open heart, and energy aligned with your highest becoming.
Your Invitation
I invite you to complete this ritual before December 31st. Choose a date that feels right for you—perhaps during the new moon in Capricorn (December 30th), or on the winter solstice (December 21st), or simply whenever your soul feels ready.
Mark it in your calendar. Protect that time fiercely. This is one of the most important appointments you'll keep all year—the one with yourself, your truth, and your transformation.
May your release be complete.
May your reflection be honest.
May your 2026 be aligned with your deepest becoming.
